Currently the Yorkshire & District Association President for 2010/11, Karl works at City of Bradford MDC as a Senior Auditor. His life in public sector finance began in 1979, and he has enjoyed posts with Leeds City Council and Wakefield MDC in Revenues; more recently, prior to joining Bradford, six years with the Audit Commission. Karl has served on the Executive Committee of the local Association since 2001, including a year as Secretary. He is a graduate of Leeds Metropolitan University with a BA(Hons) degree in Accounting & Finance.

This year, we are moving away from the traditional formal Dinner Dance. Instead we will be having a BBQ at Marriott Hollins Hall, Hotel, Baildon. The date is confirmed as Saturday May 12th and tickets are now available priced at £15.00 for adults, £5.00 children aged 5-12, children under 5 are free.
A drinks reception is at 6.00 with the BBQ starting at 6:30 and lasting until 8:00. There is a bouncy castle for children (and no doubt some adults), and a disco until midnight.

Our final meeting of the year is a joint meeting with CIPFA and is being held in Bradford on May 28th at 18:00.
Rupert Dewhirst from CIPFA will be delivering a presentation on The Future of Local Government Finance, the presentation will consider the new arrangements for both Council Tax & Non Domestic rates.
